Parent Email - HoCo Tailgate, 9/25/25

Parents & Guardians -  Next week is homecoming week, and to join in with the high school’s excitement, our annual Homecoming Tailgate will be on Friday, October 3, from 5:00 to 7:00.     The tailgate will take place in the JH parking lot and is sponsored by the PTO and the Help-a-Thon, so it is free of charge.   We will provide hamburgers and hot dogs, chips, dessert, and water.  Yard games and music will be available as well.   After the tailgate, we encourage our Junior Potters to attend the homecoming football game to cheer on the Hogs versus Limestone. The football game kicks off at 7:30.  Please remember that JH students must be accompanied by a chaperone to attend HS football games. Please see the HS’s  fan policy .       We are also looking for volunteers, so if you are interested in helping out in some way, please click below for volunteer and donation opportunities. ...

Student Email, 9/22/25 RE: state baseball

Good morning everyone! As we announced this morning, the baseball team has advanced to State and will be playing on Friday!  I have attached a permission slip to this email if you are interested in attending the game on the fan bus or having a parent pick you up from school to go.  You may also pick up a copy in the office. Please read the information on the slip and have it filled out and turned in with $10 if you wish to ride the bus.  This must be done by Thursday at 10:00 am!  We will not take you on the bus if you miss the deadline.  If you have any questions, send me an email or ask me if you see me.  We want a big, loud fan section! Mr. Hammond Assistant Principal / AD

Parent Email - State Baseball, 9/22/25

Parents and Guardians,  We are very excited about the baseball team’s advancement to the IESA State tournament this weekend at E. Peoria’s EastSide Centre.  Students were emailed the attached fan bus permission slip today.   As the permission slip states, students have two different options to attend: 1. Fan Bus:  This is considered a field trip.  You must turn in this permission slip and $10 (this includes admission and bus) by Thursday at 10:00.  2. Limited Excused Absence: You must fill out the LE form .  We will need to know if a parent is taking more than their student.     It is imperative that we know as far in advance as possible who is planning to attend the game so teachers can plan their classes for Friday, and we can plan for proper supervision at both the game and school.  Fan bus permission slip deadline i s THURSDAY AT 10:00am.    Thank you for your help as we work through the process of pl...

Click here to learn more about the MJHS counseling team.  How to Talk to Your Teen about School Maybe you’ve had this experience: Your child arrives home from school (or work, or hanging out with friends) and goes straight to their room. They emerge for a meal, then return. Are they doing homework in there? Planning their future? Posting Tik Toks? Your guess is as good as ours. How are they actually doing in school? And life? And how are you supposed to know how to support them? Click here to learn more about strategies for talking with your teen. Bonus! Since we missed last week here is a short, follow up article to the one above with some great questions that can open up conversations with your teen. Click here for 7 questions to ask your child about how school is going.

Parent Email to Red Team Parents, Sept. 4

Each year the Red & White Club (PTO) coordinates “teacher appreciation” breakfast/snacks for the staff on or around the first Monday of each month (September 8).  Instead of asking all parents each month to consider contributing, we ask one team’s parents each month.  For this month, we are asking the 8th Grade’s Red Team parents. Please consider donating to this committee.   Here is the link to this month’s schedule for September 8..   Link:  https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0F4AA5AF2DAAFBC43-58400174-first#/   Thank you, Chris Carter Principal
