Orientation Notes

  • Morning routine before school

    • Go straight to practice gym and wait in bleachers to be dismissed at 7:50am

  • After school procedures

    • Hallways should be clear by 3:15

    • Bus riders wait in the cafeteria

  • Cell phones

    • Off and in locker; no warnings

  • ID badges

    • Pick them up from the LMC (library) today or tomorrow

    • Needed for lunch and checking out books in the LMC

  • IPads - inappropriate usage, breakage 

    • All emails & Google Drive docs are monitored

  • Lunch 

    • Tables assigned alphabetically first few days

  • Dress code 

    • Covered shoulder to mid-thigh (no crop tops, shorty shorts)

  • Discipline

    • Choices, freedom, self-discipline 

  • Hallways & Lockers

    • Four minutes between classes provides enough time to use restroom, locker, & get to class

    • Don’t share combos, no open food, use combination 

  • Backpacks 

    • Leave in locker…not allowed in class

  • IPad Pick distribution

    • 7th Grade - Science classes - Friday

    • 8th Grade - Homeroom classes - Thursday

  • Activities and involvement

    • Get involved!

    • Opportunities all year

    • Listen for announcements during school

    • Ex:  disc golf, T3, art, musical, newspaper, chess, yearbook, homework, intramural bowling, golf, tennis

8th Grade Parent Email Regarding HS Locker Requests

This was sent out to 8th Grade parents on May 20... Morton High School will be switching to a locker request system.  This change is due to a vast majority of students not using their lockers. Many students have found they do not need a locker due to MHS allowing students to carry their backpacks throughout the school day.    However, any student that wants or needs a locker, we are happy to provide them with a locker.  Lockers can be requested at any time using the locker request link on the school website.  You can find this under the "Students" section of the Morton High School website.  Students will also be emailed the sign up link in their student email both today and again at the start of next school year.  -- Todd Herrmann Assistant Principal / Dean of Students (A-L) 309-284-6091 Morton High School
