November Update

First of all, I wanted to say, “Thank you!” for your continued support in making this a great year. Below is some information that may interest you. Christmas Dance The Red & White Club is sponsoring a dance on Dec. 2 from 7:00-9:00. The theme is “Frost and Flannel”. Tickets will be on sale at lunch during the week prior. Cost is $3 in advance or $5 at the door. Students should not feel obligated to dress up in fancy dresses/clothes nor is having a “date” necessary, required, or expected. Movie Incentive It has become tradition to spend the last half day of school prior to Christmas break watching a movie at the Morton Theatre. Details are still being finalized, but we are planning to keep the tradition. Participation is incentive-based. Students must be passing all classes, not be on status, have no more than one detention, and not have more than four class tarides beginning now. Girls Basketball The 7th Grade Girls’ Basketball team begins their postseason play this Saturday. We will be hosting games starting at 10:00 and our girls will play Normal Chiddix at 12:30. Per IESA, we are required to charge $5 for high schoolers and adults and $3 for K-8 students and senior citizens (62+). The games will also be streamed on NFHS. Hometown Holiday Skate The Village of Morton is hosting a village skating experience from Nov. 25-Dec. 4. Schools are benefiting from skate rental and we are hoping to provide volunteers on Saturday, November 26 from 4:00-8:00. Please stress to your student the importance of coming to the office to see Nurse Maria when they are feeling ill. Often students will email home without letting us know. Please let us help you decide whether or not your student should go home. Nurse Maria will always call you to keep you in the loop. We just don’t want parents to feel they need to drop everything and come to school. Nurse Maria is here to help. Again, thank you for all you do! Happy Thanksgiving! Chris Carter, Principal
